Ruben Action Figure

I have access to a 3d printer at work so I am working on an action figure of my son to give to him for Christmas.

I plan on posing him in a skate stance and then also model a skateboard that will go along with it. The skateboard will have a peg and one of his feet will have a hole for the peg to go into so he can stand on the skateboard.

Later I also plan on rigging it to put into a game.

Update 1

I created the skateboard in a different program so I brought the model into that program to make sure that it was the right size and to make sure I could get the character model in for the printing process.

Now to get the right pose then I will be ready for the printing process. I made the wheels separate from the trucks so they should spin once printed. I also need to make the peg on the skate and hole on the foot.

The Cool

This is a work in progress that was inspired by Lupe Fiasco's character The Cool.

The model is almost done in Zbrush. From there I may use Mudbox for the texture, but haven't decided. Then I will create a lowpoly mesh for the final render. This is one of the first times I didn't use any sort of symmetry for the main model. It was more work, but I feel it makes the model more organic and life like.

Turntable of a bat for zombie survival game.

I have a few more asserts that I have been working on that I will post. This is the high resolution mesh with hand painted textures. Enjoy!

Battle Toad

This is an oldie, but figured I would post it. If I could redo this I would probably up the texture resolution. However, with this I was going for a mobile style game. Enjoy!

Battle Toads was one of my favorite games as a kid. Loved the way their limbs would grow or turn into different things when kicking some butt.

Archer Instinct - Animations

Working on the animations for  Archer Instinct. Still need to work on an environment and then we are off to the game engine to begin the programming process. I don't get to work on this game very often, but I am glad to be making progress on it.

Shot of the first person view.

Still need to work on the UI. The first person shot will help build the UI. I am thinking of possibly using an "x-ray" looking material for the bow so that you can see your cross hairs on the other side. However, I also like the idea of  using a depth of field effect or a focus point as the cross hairs. After all the game is called Archer Instinct.

Shot of what the model actually looks like.

More to come!

Weekly Sketches 02

This weeks sketch was inspired by SZA a singer who is part of the TDE team. Definitely not the greatest sketch of her, but the reason for doing this weekly sketch thing is to improve upon sketching. SZA is a great singer and I am a huge fan of her huge hair. Hopefully she doesn't disappoint like Badu and we find out that it is a wig :) Anyway if you haven't checked out TDE (Top Dawg Entertainment) be sure to do so. If you are a hip hop head you have more than likely heard of the members. They have some excellent music.

Weekly Sketches 01

Only one page, I know, totally weak! I figured I should start posting weekly sketches on here. I rarely have time to sketch, but I think doing this will force me to get at least one page on here a week. hope you enjoy!

Sketch Notes:

Tony Squark is totally what Tony Stark would look like if he were a bird.

I realized cats are a challenge to draw from memory.

Did a little sketch of my son Ruben the soccer player. Go number 3! He begins soccer this week, super stoked.
